Brooklyn-based artist Sophia Narrett presents narratives that are unapologetically sexual, impossibly detailed, and endlessly ornate. Narrett's pieces are completely constructed of embroidery and thus offer an unlimited aesthetic of texture and color. Each work showcases an intimate narrative that upon viewing it, presents many nude figures, lush greenery and metaphors. As full as a true High Renaissance work, Narrett's scenes unveil multiple stories and endless activity. Further, Narrett likes to utilize her characters as embodied themes of joy, pleasure, and love. In this way, Narrett presents sex as a visual tool to transcend love, but also isolation and vulnerability. All emotions that define the human condition, but are rarely personified in such erotic states.
